Day two

We all woke early. Although, not strictly true. Char and I woke early but due to being in separate rooms weren’t aware of the other. I did my workout and Char read. Lizzy snoozed until way after we’d boiled the kettle and made drinks. She suddenly appeared while we were sat chatting in the semi-darkness. Very strange sitting outside watching the sun rise in nothing but PJs and flip-flops on 6th December.

After breakfast we walked down the hill, an event you can’t dodge if you want to get to the beach. Our destination was a little way along the seafront, where we paused to hire scooters. It’s fair to say Char was a little nervous as she’d not ridden an electric one before. But Sophie and Dan take note, she was awesome. I mean like a fish in water, totally natural. Liz is a lot more cautious. I rode behind Char, as I did for Liz’s maiden voyage, to make sure she knew how to brake, steer and so on. But no need, she aced it and zoomed away.

The path we ride along was great, imagine a wide two lane cycle track and you’re not far away. We rode 20mins along the sea front, ended the ride and stepped on to the beach. It was proper warm and I took my Tshirt off. #roasting.

We walked along the beach which was glorious in the warm sun. And once we got to the end of the beach, we walked back along the seafront shops hunting for magnets and other souvenirs.

After lunch, we swam in the spa pool which was way warmer than the outdoor pool. Trust me we know. Some silly fool suggested we got out of the warm pool to jump in the outdoor pool. Let’s just say it felt like an ice bath and we only lasted 25 seconds. The spa sauna warmed us up and after we’d taken another swim, we got out and into the sauna to dry off a bit, before walking back to the room for a shower.

I suggested we grabbed a small snack, picturing a mini muffin and a drink. Once I’d returned the towels to the spa I joined the ladies at the pool snack bar. Liz was brandishing a hot dog, but Char had gone all in with a cheeseburger and chips. Shocking. Clearly, they had other options ideas, or maybe couldn’t resist the temptation of a tray of gorgeous hot dogs/burgers sat in front of them. Now we’re sat having pre-dinner drinks on the pool terrace. A terrific day.
