My birthday! (Thanks Dan for the birthday greetings, shame on you Sophie for forgetting! LOL.) After breakfast we needed to be outside the front of the hotel for 09:15hrs, for our pickup by the buggie tour company. When we arrived at the buggie HQ there was some shenanigans with two couples who protested about not being told they needed driving licenses. The boss lady wasn’t taking any prisoners and pushed back their attempts to ride without the legal paperwork in place. Eventually after trying to locate a photo or copy from their insurance provider back home, the people gave up and admitted defeat. #fuming. We were a two buggy tour with Liz in front and me bringing up the rear. Terrain was great until the road changed into a broken rock track. I know what you’re thinking. You’re assuming we were out on a track for buggies and other off road bikes or vehicles. And you’d be wrong, sorry. A really swanky new blue Fiat 500 was gingerly picking its way along the “main road” into the national park, but the driver looked like they were regretting their decision. The buggies coped well but slid around on the loose debris. We were treated to a game of dodge the edge and keep away from the traffic going past on the other side of the road. Lucky us! The last 2 or 3 kilometres of our track to the lighthouse ran past a reasonable size community way out in the wilderness. I couldn’t have lived there knowing the crappy road was my only link to anywhere.

(We drove from Morro Jable along the bottom to the peninsula)
It took an hour of hard driving and hanging on to the steering wheel to keep the buggy where we needed it, to get to the lighthouse. A short break to rinse the dust out of our mouth (despite the face covering), and we began our truck back. By now everyone else was out. We passed a fleet of buggies from a rival company, a jeep safari tour and a line of really nice hire cars. Note to self not to buy one of those as they’ll be wrecked underneath.
Back at the hotel we showered to rid ourselves of the dust and ate lunch. After lunch I treated the ladies to a back detox massage. (Neck, back and legs.) while they were pampered I undertook a 30 minute workout in the gym. The rest of the day was used to enjoy the brief rays of sun, quite a cloudy day today. And to enjoy a few drinks and as the ladies weren’t to familiar with the concept of a gossip, I thought I’d encourage them to indulge. LOL.
