Today we hopped back on the train and travelled three stops in the opposite direction from Malaga to Benalmadena. A short walk from the station led us to the cable car base station at the foot of Mount Calamorro. Last time we visited this area, Liz and I ran out of time and didn’t manage to fit this in. The car ascends 800m up some steep inclines to the top. It goes without saying the views from the top station were stunning, but there was another 25m to climb to the peak. At times this was a bit hair-rasing and steep. It certainly tested the grip on our trainers but it was worth it. We could clearly see Malaga, and several of the places we’d visited yesterday, and also Torremolenos where we’re staying.

We climbed to the top

The above panorama is huge and shows Malaga to the far left and Torremolinos towards the coast beyond the two cream coloured quarries.

Decensing down the mountain was a little hair-raising because the cable car felt like it was dropping due to the weightlessness effect of moving downwards at a pace. But we survived and I calmed everyone’s nerves. As we were only a short train journey form the hotel we decided to head back for lunch because it’s silly to be all inclusive and then eat out instead. I was pleased we did. Today’s lunch was amazing and the best meal yet.
